The Muslim Community in Ondo State has expressed delight with the choice of a Moslem, Alhaji Ganny Dauda, as the deputy governorship candidate of Alliance for Democracy (AD).

The Chief Imam of Akure, Alhaji Abdulazeez Yayi-Akorede, lauded the AD and its governorship candidate, Chief Olusola Oke, for recognising Moslems with the deputy governorship slot.

Yayi-Akorede, who spoke at the Akure Central Mosque when some Moslem leaders played host to Oke, said Moslems in the state would not have anything to do with political parties that didn't recognise Moslems as he promised to reach out to other Moslem groups and organisations on the need to vote AD in the November 26 election.

Speaking, former National President of Muslim Students' Society of Nigeria, Alhaji Sirajudeen Abdulazeez, advised Oke to address all injustice meted to Moslems in the state.

Abdulazeez said the various political imbalances done Moslems in the state must be corrected by the AD government for it to continue to enjoy the support of Moslems.

Oke, who said Dauda's emergence as running mate was divine, stressed the need for balance between the two major political parties - Christianity and Islamic.

The AD candidate while appreciating the role of Moslems and the efficacy of their prayers in ensuring good moral upbringing, peace and development, assured that his government would always accord them their due regard and recognition.

Oke said: "The AD is out to bail Ondo State out of the poverty and hunger ravaging it in spite of its vast natural endowments".
